I started rereading Chase the Lion by Mark Batterson. I’ve read this book so many times, but it truly speaks life into me. For the last several days I’ve heard God whispering in my ear that I need to pick it up and dust it off. So I thought Saturday night was the perfect timing. JB and Austin we out for a little boys night and I hopped in the bath with my book.
I feel God really moving in our business right now and I have some big goals I want to reach by Spring. Which makes me nervous because I know where I am right now and I know where I have to go.
But one line is Mark’s book really stuck out to me, “A God-sized dream will always be beyond your ability. Unless God does it, it cannot be done. But that’s how God gets the glory. If your dream doesn’t scare you, it’s too small. It also falls short of God’s glory by giving Him a chance to show up and show off in your life.”
God WANTS us to have these HUGE, impossible dreams in our life. He wants us to ask for something that only He can make happen. That’s when you know – that it’s only by the work of our powerful God that it was answered.
Have you ever noticed how prayer warriors really come out when someone becomes ill? I think it’s because we know that medicine can treat, but only God can truly heal.
But what other circumstances in our life can God come through? Are you running a business that you want to just explode? Are you trying to save your marriage? Buy your dream house? Have a child? All of those are dreams God gave you to. You should go after them – chase your dreams and ask God for help. Once He comes through, you’ll know it was His power and you can give all the credit and glory to Him. He does things we can’t do so we can’t take credit for them. God honors big dreams, because big dreams honor God.
Your destiny isn’t a mystery, it’s a decision. A deciding moment when you say, I’m doing this and you run after it. Then you get to your knees and ask God for help. It’s scary, it isn’t easy. You fulfill your destiny seizing one opportunity at a time. And these opportunities will often be disguised as big problems. If you’re looking for an excuse you’ll find one. Don’t cave to the excuse. Go head first and battle through the problem. God will see you through.
“In every journey there comes a moment when you have to quit living as if the purpose of life is to arrive at death safely. You have to go after a dream that is destined to fail without divine intervention. You have to go big or go home. You have to take the road less traveled or settle for the status quo. You have to bite the bullet or settle for the status quo.”
